The Revenue Accountant will assist with developing and enhancing revenue recognition policies and procedures, prepare and analyze deferred revenue schedules, as well as handle account reconciliations. This role will also handle month-end accounting close duties, assist with audit planning and scheduling, conduct revenue analysis, and help analyze revenue forecasts.
What You Will Be Doing
- Ability to read complex contracts/agreements and identify pertinent terms and issues in order to apply appropriate accounting guidance and propose solutions within the Company’s revenue recognition policy and in line with ASC 606
- Assist with invoicing during peak sales seasons
- Provide advisory assistance to sales team and others within the organization with respect to product launches and new product offerings to identify and prevent revenue recognition issues
- Proactively identify areas where process improvements could be made to make the revenue process more efficient
- Provide training on Revenue Recognition topics to Sales and other internal groups, as necessary
- Partner with the Client Services Department to ensure timely recognition of services revenue
- Prepare and maintain monthly revenue and deferred revenue reconciliations
- Research monthly budget-to-actual variances
- Partner with the Order Services team and provide guidance on entering sales orders for invoicing purposes
- Work closely with the external auditors regarding all applicable annual audit requirements
- Partner with other departments to complete monthly reporting package for Board of Directors review
- Coordinate and perform detailed analysis for the annual standard selling price review
- Prepare ad hoc revenue reports/analysis utilizing NetSuite and SalesForce, when needed
- Assist with monthly commission calculations and related reconciliations
- Be flexible and willing to help out in other accounting areas, as needed
Here's What You Will Need To Know/have
- Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
- Master’s degree in Accounting
- 1-2 years Public Accounting experience
- 1+ years of progressively increasing accounting and revenue recognition experience
- Experience working with accounting systems e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
