At Code and Theory, junior writers are word nerds who are thrilled to get paid to write. Ad school is definitely not necessary; we might value an open mind, desire to learn and non-linear path as much as a polished book. This is a place to try new things and have fun finding and honing your copywriting strengths.

Every day, in one way or another, you’ll be working to solve business problems through words. You could be bringing a group’s ideas to life in words, naming a new product or nuancing copy across different digital channels.

Junior copywriters should take direction well—from both creatives and strategists. Our copy team is always growing, and chances are, you’ll have a job that’s never existed—which means you have every chance to shape your role and gratify your goals.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We’re super thoughtful about aligning interests and experiences with assignments, but this is a great place to build your book in new ways. These are some of the types of writing you could have the opportunity to work on at Code and Theory:

  • Interface Copy: Manuscripts for sites and comps
  • Buy Flow/Technical: Instructional copy for ecommerce and more, with strategic CTAs
  • Long Form: Journalistic articles, impassioned manifestos and more
  • Concepting: Brainstorming in diverse groups (not just one visual partner) and writing up ideas
  • Scriptwriting: Treatments and video scripts that tell stories through both voice over and supers
  • Naming: Names and rationales that exhibit strategic, linguistic creativity
  • Deck Writing: Write ups of conceptual ideas with clarity and cadence
  • Voice Development: Crafting the unique way a brand talks, across audiences and touch points

  • Ability to shift voice and tone to write for a broad range of brands
  • An easy collaborator, moving between varying coworkers and clients
