Overview

The People + Culture Generalist is responsible for providing an exceptional employee experience during an employee’s life cycle from onboarding to offboarding. The People + Culture Generalist is an integral part of the People Operations team, seamlessly delivering all aspects of the employee experience to the business by partnering with many stakeholders throughout the organization.

Reporting to the Manager of People + Culture, this position will be based out of the US and will be remote-first with anticipated travel 1-3 times per year.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for the effective delivery of People Ops support to assigned functions and leadership teams
  • With direction, assists leaders with the annual merit process and any other ad hoc compensation requests; partners with compensation as needed
  • Execute short and long-term strategic initiatives of the function; employee engagement, quarterly conversations, and employee playbook
  • Manage HR inbox; point of contact for employee questions and requests, and escalate to stakeholders as necessary
  • Elevate, innovate and execute onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Coordinate and assist with the new hire process, including assisting and ensuring new hires properly complete on-boarding process, submit and process paperwork to appropriate departments, create new employee files, coordinate orientation, and support training efforts
  • Manage employee off-boarding process including communication with employee, and conducting exit interviews. Ensure accurate tracking and completion of offboarding tasks (payroll notifications, exit surveys, IT tickets). Assist with involuntary departures by creating severance agreements and exit packages according to departure details and in compliance with company policy
  • Analyze employee-related data and share findings with key stakeholders
  • Coach and support supervisors and managers on employee performance issues, disciplinary actions, terminations, employee conflicts, policy violations, etc.
  • With direction, investigate employee issues and complaints; makes recommendations to resolve issues and ensure timely and appropriate actions are taken
  • Perform retail field talent acquisition activities including creating and posting requisitions, screening, interviewing and dispositioning applicants, processing job offers, and setting up required pre-employment screenings
  • Knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Interpret and apply programs, policies, and procedures and ensures compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations, if applicable, including Fair Labor Standards Act, Labor Management Relations Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, etc., consulting with HR Leadership and Legal as needed
  • Travel to company events or meetings as needed (approximately 1-3 times per year)

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred or equivalent experience
  • Naturally curious. Always seeking to learn more and to improve/streamline processes and programs
  • Collaborative. Builds healthy working relationships and partners effectively with others on projects and initiatives
  • Detail-oriented. Thoroughly and accurately completes tasks while effectively managing projects simultaneously, prioritizing urgent needs, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communicator. Exercises discretion, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all communications, due to the exposure to highly sensitive and confidential information

Extra Credit

  • Leadership experience in a retail sales environment with demonstrated success leading high performing teams
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation

The range of base salary for the position is between $70,000 - $100,000 USD plus equity, and benefits. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining final salary. This role is also eligible for health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, and paid time off, parental leave, and other additional benefits.
