Flexible Location

TNTP seeks a full-time Finance Associate to join TNTP’s Strategic Growth and Finance division. This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately. Occasional travel is required.

Finance & Operations Group

Finance & Operations ensures that TNTP staff have the tools, systems, and operational support they need to make a huge impact improving the quality of public education. The Finance department develops and executes TNTP's fiscal strategy and manages budget development and monitoring, financial reporting, internal controls and policies, audits, and other accounting operations.

What You’ll Do

The Finance Associate is responsible for providing high-quality customer service to TNTP staff and maintaining Finance records. The Finance Associate works most closely with the Financial Reporting and Operations team, though may support staff and complete projects across the Finance Department. The role offers strong candidates the opportunity to grow their skills within a central team at TNTP and develop toward their long-term professional goals within the organization. Specifically, the Finance Associate’s duties will include some of the following related to the payroll and the accounts receivable functions:

Ensure Effective Accounts Payable And Expense Report Processing

  • Enter invoice details, following quality control processes to ensure accuracy
  • Review and process monthly expense reports timely (i.e. employee reimbursements and AMEX credit card charges)
  • Monitor TNTP’s corporate card program
  • Ensure expenses are in compliance with grant and tax regulations, and in accordance with TNTP’s policies
  • Managing employee’s home-office annual balance and Cohort’s discretionary annual budget

Ensure Effective Payroll Processing

  • Prepare, enter, and calculate payroll input for management review.
  • Run social security number verification biweekly for all new/rehire hires.
  • Submit new/rehire data to State reporting agency biweekly.
  • Provide 2nd level review/QC for all manual input and calculation done by Payroll Manager/Director as needed.
  • Complete employment verification requests as needed.
  • Support with ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Support with payroll processing as needed
  • Assist with sales and use tax filings
  • Assist with unemployment tax filings
  • Assist with SUI quarterly report filings

Communicate with TNTP staff and provide strong staff and Finance Department resources:

  • Respond to email inquiries for payroll and accounts receivable
  • Prepare organization-wide communications for accounts receivable
  • Assist with maintaining internal policy manuals
  • Maintain and follow-up on the Finance internal issue-tracking tool, JIRA
  • Assist with Workday Finance training

Support And Engage In a Strong Department

  • Proactively identify efficiencies and process improvements, working with colleagues where applicable
  • Work with the Finance Management Team on other projects across the department as necessary
  • Support the Finance team by cross-training on other tasks as needed

We Expect The Finance Associate To

  • Provide strong support to TNTP staff. You’ll regularly interact with staff, providing high levels of customer service and motivating them to make changes. You have an ability to communicate directly, concisely and with a balanced tone, on paper and verbally.
  • Be willing to step up to the plate. You’re eager to contribute and learn, willing to provide solutions before we even know there are issues. You make ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

  • College degree minimum Associate, with a concentration in Finance/Accounting, and minimum one to three years of accounting experience, preferred; or equivalent financial work experience
  • Experience with Workday, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management and staff.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.

What We Offer

TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The hourly pay rate for this position is $19.62-$29.42. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal equity. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing the majority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Other benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending account options, generous vacation time, commuter benefits, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan with employer matching. TNTP may offer a relocation stipend to defray the cost of moving for this role, if applicable.
