POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Engineer will participate in designing, implementing, monitoring, and responding to cybersecurity infrastructure and protecting ARCOS’ assets. They will support the Amazon Web Services (AWS), Linux and Windows environments, and the corporate HQ information systems. The Security Engineer will be responsible for keeping all aspects of compliance and reporting related to the company’s information security policies. Additionally, they will ensure continuous 24x7 production uptime of our services and compliance commitments to our clients.

Essential Job Functions

  • Have knowledge of and experience in implementing information security industry best practices and security frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework v1.1, NIST Special Publication 800-53 Rev. 5, and FIPS 140-2).
  • Experience in supporting SOC2 Type II Audits.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Monitor systems for irregular behavior and set up preventive measures.
  • Identify, define, and document system security requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Utilize cloud services and install software to monitor systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
  • Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
  • Responsible for continuous vulnerability testing and annual penetration testing, including working with appropriate teams to remediation.
  • Assist with planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and updating the company’s information security strategy.
  • Develop, execute, and track the performance of security measures to protect information, network infrastructure, and computer systems.
  • Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure, including WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, Inspector, Network Firewall, Security Groups, Load Balancers, CloudFront, Route 53, CloudWatch, and other AWS services.
  • Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Development, Quality Assurance, Professional Services, and Technical Support to resolve issues that will affect the success of the assigned product offerings and schedules.
  • Provide manager with regular status reports on development projects.
  • Coordinate configuration changes, installs, upgrades, planning, scheduling, and status reporting while following company change control procedures.
  • Automate common monitoring and maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or availability concerns.
  • Share in 24x7 on-call responsibilities, maintaining the availability and performance of Cloud Operations services.
  • Accurately document all processes and procedures for routine and non-routine tasks of position.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications Requirements And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience or professional training, is required.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of Security Engineering experience, ideally in global management and operations of highly trafficked customer-facing applications. Experience working in a 24x7 SaaS environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Networking and Linux systems administration.
  • Experience with IDS, IPS, and other security monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
  • Experience with AWS and security-related services.
  • Action-oriented, decisive approach to work is required, with the willingness to take a hands-on role when needed to ensure the deliverables are met on time.
  • Advanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues.
  • Experience working with scripting, including bash, ksh, python, lambda, etc.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with highly reliable and highly available mission-critical technologies with detailed results while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to deploy automation, SaaS operations, internal and external SaaS infrastructure, security, and cost management.
  • Solid understanding of technical issues and opportunities related to modern cloud infrastructure and operations.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to take direction and manage tasks with minimal supervision within an energized, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

  • The targeted base salary range for this position is $80K - $100K based on relevant skills, experience and other job related knowledge. A quarterly bonus plan is available to most employees, based on company and individual performance.
