The Payroll Specialist will support and serve as a liaison to the Human Resources and Finance departments. This role requires mastery of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to accurately conduct payroll processing, system administration, and technical assistance regarding core functionality and supporting subsidiary systems. You will be challenged to contribute to a growing business that requires you to pivot frequently, juggle multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization to get your tasks and projects across the finish line.

This role is remote.

To be blunt, this role is about:
  • Providing both day-to-day and project-based support in an operational capacity
  • Preparing, processing, and reconciling all aspects of the payroll process
  • Collaborating with leadership and HR staff to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommending and implementing solutions
  • Providing technical support, performing troubleshooting activities, and providing guidance to HRIS end users
  • Overseeing and maintaining optimal performance of the Wurk HRIS which may include installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrade to applications, systems, and modules
  • Working closely with the Finance department to resolve payroll-reporting related issues
  • Providing training and working with staff/management to ensure a high level of accuracy, customer service, and maintaining deadline-consciousness while multi-tasking several ongoing projects.
  • Auditing and maintaining all payroll records, timesheets, earnings, deductions, withholdings, PTO payments, retroactive pay increases, and other files and records for reports and auditing purposes
  • Preparing payroll/tax reporting for various end users including federal and state agencies

  • 1-2+ years of experience working in-depth within HRIS platforms, including system implementation, workflow updates, reporting, and overall system maintenance
  • Exposure to payroll preparation, processing, and reconciliation
  • Experience within a customer service-oriented, client-facing environment
  • High proficiency within Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience troubleshooting HRIS platforms and offering solutions
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment with shifting goals and priorities
