The Mozilla Festival (MozFest) team convenes our global community through virtual and face-to-face opportunities year-round in support of the overall objectives of Mozilla culminating with the annual Mozilla Festival event. We exemplify openness, inclusion, and federated design to build year round support for the internet health movement, driven by diverse, inclusive & vibrant communities working in collaboration.

We are seeking support personnel to join our team as a Wrangler Program Assistant. This role works under the direction of the MozFest Wrangler Program Manager and supports leaders from across the Mozilla community (called Wranglers) as they design and produce the annual Mozilla Festival. This role will support community participation and collaboration at MozFest through support for the Wranglers and their curation of festival session proposals. This role is aligned with Mozilla’s mission to ensure the Internet is a global public resource, open and accessible to all by engaging with global festival Facilitators and Wranglers. The Wrangler Program Assistant will serve as an important bridge between the broader community members and MozFest volunteer festival designers.

As a Wrangler Program Assistant at Mozilla, you will…

  • Provide support to the Wrangler program and federated design process by assisting with facilitator and Wrangler requests and needs.
    • Working side by side with Wrangler program lead and Wranglers in the development of festival spaces to understand shared goals
    • Coordinating and supporting the Facilitator journey from session acceptance to session delivery.
    • Coordinate the scheduling of MozFest sessions across festival platforms from setting timings to platform allocation and room set up.
    • Fulfill equipment, technology, and accessibility requests.
    • Lead Communications with Facilitators regarding festival tasks and resources
  • Support wider community engagement and programming with program managers outside of festival season.
  • Partner with MozFest staff to develop guides and documentation for community journeys at the festival.
  • Collaborate with Festival Director and other MozFest staff on MozFest Retreat orientation related to the Wrangler and Facilitator relationship.
  • Provide planning and facilitation support across all Mozilla Festival Team and Global Programs activities to build a cohesive and accessible offering of our work.

Your Professional Profile

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with open communities and a passion for co-design and sharing processes with peers and community
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a sensitivity to tone and platform
  • Approachable written and verbal communication style with ability to make written communications accessible and engaging for a diverse range of audiences across traditional and social mediums
  • Confident in ability to understand and present technical information (particularly around AI) to nontechnical audiences
  • Strong personal organizational skills including effective prioritization and time management
  • Capability of working with multi-lingual, global audiences at a distance
  • Proficiency working in a fluid and constantly evolving environment
  • Self-initiative and ability to work independently and collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Positive outlook with the ability to identify and make the most of opportunities and overcome challenges

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Understanding of the digital rights and human rights landscape online
  • Experience providing support for events online and in-person

Salary And Benefits Information

The Mozilla Foundation is dedicated to fair and equitable compensation for our staff. We aim to pay a competitive and market-based salary based on the responsibilities and requirements of the role. We aim to offer at the midpoint of our salary ranges for the purposes of increasing inclusivity and fairness of our offer process and ensuring internal equity. We do not ask for, or take into account, salary histories in our offer process.

The base salary ranges, and the mid-point, for this role is listed below. We target the 75th percentile of market pay as a salary band midpoint for all levels, with 10% either side of the midpoint to create a salary range.These four countries are where we most commonly employ staff.

  • Germany: €52,844 - €64,587 (mid-point: €58,716)
  • UK: £28,278 - £34,562 (mid-point: £31,420)
  • Canada: $57,742 - $70,574 (mid-point: $64,158)
  • US: $52,579 - $64,264 (mid-point: $58,421)

We may also add in a geographic differential to this base salary based on the local job market. This would be applied to the above ranges depending on the successful candidate’s location. Below are some of the common cities in which we hire staff along with examples of salary ranges,with the geographical differential applied:

  • Inner London: £30,823 - £37,672 (mid-point: £34,248)
  • Toronto: $62,303 - $76,148 (mid-point: $ 69,226)
  • New York: $58,257 - $71,204 (mid-point: $ 64,730)
