Job Category

QuinStreet is looking for a full-time Consumer Analyst expert to join its Research and Publishing Division (RPD) insurance team.

RPD’s mission:

Mission One: Be the very best online research, learning, comparison, and decision support destination for our valued visitors. Data, content, tools, and user experience are paramount.

Mission Two: Within the confines and not in conflict with Mission one, generate revenue from our sites with our unique leads, clicks, calls, and other visitor engagement widgets.

The RPD insurance group owns three well-known websites – Insurance.com, Insure.com, and CarInsurance.com. These websites have been educating consumers on auto, home, health, and life insurance for over 20 years. The insurance team produces data-based content packages with interactive tools, articles, and buying guides designed to rank high on search engine results pages.

As an insurance data expert, you will collect insurance-rate data from third parties, check incoming datasets for accuracy, and analyze and interpret data for new insights. You will help the editors shape educational content and develop and help build new insurance-rate calculators and tools, working with the editorial, product management, and technical teams. You will also create reports and visualizations around the website’s performance on traffic and revenue-related metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Find new sources of insurance-rate data and other insurance information.
  • Gather, organize, and aggregate complex sets of insurance data from publicly available and third-party sources.
  • Perform data cleansing and diagnostics – extracting, scrubbing, and patching large data sets.
  • Provide in-depth insurance-rate analysis and meaningful consumer insights.
  • Work closely with the editorial team to shape existing data-driven content and develop new content ideas to engage insurance consumers.
  • Work closely with RPD website producers/product managers and developers to build new consumer-facing insurance-rate calculators and tools.
  • Maintain a database of insurance-rate information.
  • Identify and research new and public data sources for our websites.
  • Assist with website performance optimization – produce traffic and revenue reports, identify areas to improve campaign performance, and analyze results from A/B tests.
  • Leverage your analytical abilities to develop custom reports and marketing strategies.

Experience

  • A record of high academic achievement with a degree in insurance (Property & casualty), business, or consumer analytics
  • Experience as an insurance agent/broker, claims representative, underwriter, investigator, or insurance adjuster would be a big plus.
  • Willingness to initiate and own research, exploration, and analysis from start to finish.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods to produce data insights.
  • A deep interest in the online media and marketing industry.
  • An ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to remain focused yet flexible in a fast-paced internet company environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of SQL, and a knack for coding. Experience in Python is a plus.
  • Knowledge of a BI tool is recommended, Tableau is preferred.
  • Good professional communication skills: experience presenting and effectively communicating findings to colleagues, senior management team, and/or clients
