Our client has a remote contract opening for a Data Security Engineer.

Job Description:

Data Security Strategy:

• Design and implement a comprehensive data security strategy aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Participate and/or conduct data security risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain data security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Foster a culture of data security awareness within the organization.

Data Governance:

• Collaborate with the Data, Legal, and Audit Teams to ensure data security controls align with data governance frameworks and principles.
• Recommend data security controls for integration into data lifecycle management processes.
• Support and collaborate with legal for data classification and labeling systems updates.
• Monitor and manage data access controls and ensure appropriate authorization is granted.

Technology and Tools:

• Evaluate and recommend data security technologies and tools.
• Configure and manage data security infrastructure, including access control systems, data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, and other data-related security tools.
• Assist with security audits and penetration testing when appropriate.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest data security threats and trends.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Effectively communicate data security risks and best practices to various stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and data users.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data security measures.
• Proactively identify and address data security concerns.

Looking for someone with:

• Experience with specific data security regulations, such as PCI, NYDFS, CCPA, ISO, NIST and/or SoX.
• Desirable: Experience working in a financial industry or fintech company.
• Desirable: Security certifications such as the following:
• ISC2 (CISSP, CC, CCSP)
• ISACA (CISA, CISM, CDPSE), CCSP
• Other relevant security certification(s)
