The primary duties of this role involve reconciling financial transactions posted for accuracy, reconciling large batch deposits from the Department of Education, monitoring rejected transactions for correction.

This role will be involved in creating/submitting deliverable accounting reports. This role is integral in tracking and reporting on all activity that is processed on the system for the Department of Education.

Position Summary: Develop, prepare, and analyze financial and operating data while performing a variety of moderately complex accounting duties in the Accounting Department.

  • Commit to Performance Based Organization (PBO) & Easy to Do Business with (ETDBW) philosophy. - Contribute to Continuous Process Improvement. - Manage multiple conflicting priorities & consistently meet deadlines. - Initiate and monitor cash activity - Provide guidance and training support to a variety of accounting clerks. - Reconcile moderately complex accounts, researching and resolving outages. - Provide information to other areas of the company. - Process and distribute reports as necessary and effectively communicate appropriate information to supervisor. - Work with internal departments, as well as outside agencies, on accounting issues. - Maintain files on problem accounts. - Provide backup support as directed by supervisor.

EDUCATION: Associate degree preferred

EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of accounting experience, reconciling experience, analytical experience

COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES: - Business Math - Flexibility and Adaptability - Problem Solving - Oral communications - Written communications - Accuracy/Attention to Detail - Managing Multiple Priorities - Working with MS Office (notably Excel)

Additional Requirements:

  • Employment and continued employment are contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a favorable clearance
  • Must reside in the United States and be a United States citizen
  • This process involves collecting and providing 7 years of previous work experience, previous addresses, and contact information of people that can verify this information
  • Must not be delinquent or in default with any federal debt
  • Final suitability determination is the sole discretion of the Department of Education

Starting pay range for this position: $35,256 to $40,000 annually DOE
